About Cedar

Cedar High School opened on September 2nd, 2020 as we welcomed our first class of students to the school. Due to the global pandemic, students are beginning their classes online, through the K12 platform. In addition, students are participating in activities to build a positive community and develop the culture of the new school. Once online learning concludes, the instruction will be primarily through project based learning in interdisciplinary classes.

Cedar appeals to students who want a smaller, personalized learning environment that is centered on their needs and learning styles. The development of this school has been guided by the core values of equity, respect, wellness, creativity, and resiliency, and the vision is to inspire students to be active, engaged citizens in their community and advocates for their own futures.

Principal's Message

Greetings Cedar students and families! We are looking forward to an exciting new year as we open Cedar High School in the fall of 2020. While the world is in the midst of a global pandemic, we are still confident that we can provide a meaningful educational experience for each student who enrolls in Cedar High School. All students in the Shelton School District will be learning from home for the first trimester, utilizing the K12 curriculum. However, students enrolled in Cedar High School will also have the opportunity to participate in culture building activities and to be in on the ground level in the design of this new high school in Shelton. Wouldn't it be exciting to say you were a student on the first day that Cedar High School opened? If you are interested in a small learning community that will utilize project based learning as the primary method of instruction, come join us. We hope to be back to learning in person by second trimester, and we want you to be a member of our learning community.

Principal, Cedar High School
